Industrial demolition at Santander's Maritime Port

August, 2018 to October, 2018

Within the facilities of Santander's Port, Tirso has carried out the demolition of Basterrechea's facilities. It was a warehouse of about 2500 m2, covered with asbestos fiber cement sheets, on a concrete roof structure. The enclosure of the warehhouse was made of reinforced concrete walls, 50 cm thick. The maximum height was about 12 meters. First of all, we proceed with the interior cleaning, removing the waste and managing it in a landfill, in a segregated way. Next, and with two work teams simultaneously, we carried out the removal of the asbestos fiber cement roof from scissor lift platforms.

For the demolition of the walls and deck structure of the ship, a backhoe with demolition was used. To avoid the formation of dust and the affection for it to the neighbors of the zone, as well as to the users of the port, the continuous irrigation of the demolition zone has been carried out by means of an irrigation tractor. Finally, the waste generated in the demolition has been valued on site by means of a mobile crushing plant, for its reuse on site.
